But the 50-year-old actor ditched his usual designer suits for a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/tshirt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">T-shirt</a>&nbsp;that read "Protect the Dolls." His look, advocating for trans rights, captured a crucial moment happening now in fashion and politics.
The top has been going viral among fashion insiders for several months now thanks to a bout of celebrities who've worn the creation by American designer Conner Ives&mdash;like, for example, musicians Troye Sivan and Tate McRae. Ives revealed the top in his&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/fall-winter-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fall/Winter 2025</a>&nbsp;runway show after creating it just the night before. For that collection, one of his goals was to "make a T-shirt that says something," he&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/18/style/protect-the-dolls-shirt-conner-ives.html">told</a>&nbsp;The New York Times.
"We woke up the next morning and our whole inbox was just people being like, 'Where do I buy this?'" Ives told the&nbsp;Times.&nbsp;Proceeds from the viral top are being donated to Trans Lifeline, a nonprofit crisis hotline and community organization.
Pascal, who paired the shirt with an espresso-hued coat, black trousers, and blue baseball cap, is the latest celebrity to proudly wear the Conner Ives piece. The actor has been vocal about trans rights throughout his career and very supportive of his&nbsp; sister, Lux, who is also an actor and a trans woman.

<h2>"Protect the Dolls" Meaning</h2>
The T-shirt is about protecting trans women, as dolls is an affectionate term for them. Ives' shirt comes amid a time of&nbsp;<a href="https://19thnews.org/2025/02/trump-anti-trans-executive-orders-animus/">increasing hostility</a>&nbsp;towards trans people in the U.S. and an already deadly context of violence targeted at trans women, especially those of color. The shirt&mdash;which came during a season where graphic tees with slogans, especially political ones, were a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.essence.com/fashion/fashion-month-trends-fw25/">top trend</a>&mdash;makes its statement clear at a most poignant time.
