Health has long been a taboo subject for Filipino men, but that&rsquo;s beginning to change. In its walnut-and-steel space in Bonifacio Global City, Brovage &mdash; the country&rsquo;s first luxury men&rsquo;s wellness clinic &mdash; creates room for men to take their health seriously.

Tucked inside the W High Street Building lies Brovage &mdash; the Philippines&rsquo; first ultra-luxury clinic dedicated to men&rsquo;s sexual health, aesthetic urology and advanced wellness. But it&rsquo;s not the sterile, fluorescent-lit space you might imagine. Designed by JJ Acu&ntilde;a, Brovage looks and feels like a private club complete with rich walnut millwork, brushed steel and jewel-toned marble. While the space is masculine at a glance, it is also intimate and thoughtful.
Brovage takes its name from &ldquo;Brothers&rsquo; Vitality with Age,&rdquo; a phrase that captures its purpose in four words. &ldquo;We wanted something that felt like a brotherhood,&rdquo; says Dr. Z Teo, one of its founding specialists. &ldquo;A space for men to open up, ask questions and find real, medical answers.&rdquo;

For most Filipino men, discussions about sexual health rarely leave the confines of humor or hearsay. The idea of walking into a clinic to talk about erectile function or testosterone levels can still feel unthinkable. &ldquo;Here in the Philippines, even husbands and wives don&rsquo;t talk about sex,&rdquo; says Dr. Frederick Mendiola, Brovage&rsquo;s chief executive officer and an internationally-recognized expert in male sexual health. &ldquo;Men are what we call silent sufferers. Because of machismo or shyness, they don&rsquo;t share their problems. That&rsquo;s what we&rsquo;re changing with Brovage.&rdquo;

For Dr. Mendiola and his partners, who include Dr. Teo and Dr. Alan Tan, the answer was to build something that didn&rsquo;t exist in the country: a clinic that combines world-class medical expertise with the comfort and privacy similar to that of a luxury retreat.
&ldquo;Guys are really quiet,&rdquo; Dr. Teo says. &ldquo;When something bothers them, they go into their shell. They&rsquo;ll Google it, they&rsquo;ll scroll through ChatGPT, they&rsquo;ll ask forums online. But they don&rsquo;t want to talk about it. That&rsquo;s the masculine thing, to say, everything&rsquo;s fine. We wanted to build a place where they can finally say, actually, it&rsquo;s not fine and I want to fix it.&rdquo;
At Brovage, every detail has been considered to make that possible. The clinic operates strictly by appointment, ensuring that each visit is private and unhurried. &ldquo;Everything has been meticulously thought out,&rdquo; says Dr. Teo. &ldquo;Each consultation room has its own waiting area, so clients never have to sit outside or see anyone else. The doctors come to you, not the other way around. It&rsquo;s the opposite of the usual clinic set-up.&rdquo;
There&rsquo;s even a bar &mdash; a permanent one &mdash; where clients can unwind before or after their session. &ldquo;We wanted to break the stiffness of clinical spaces,&rdquo; Dr. Teo adds. &ldquo;Some guys might just want to relax, have a drink and take a breather before talking about something personal. Brovage is built for that kind of comfort.&rdquo;

To bring that vision to life, the founders turned to JJ Acu&ntilde;a / Bespoke Studio, known for crafting spaces that blend intimacy with refinement. The clinic feels as much like an upscale lounge as it is a medical facility. Interiors mix traditional and modern cues: warm walnut walls and mid-century detailing paired with brushed steel and deep marble accents.
The set-up might sound indulgent, but it&rsquo;s purposeful. &ldquo;When you&rsquo;re relaxed, you&rsquo;re more honest,&rdquo; says Dr. Mendiola. &ldquo;You open up about what&rsquo;s really bothering you. That&rsquo;s when we can help.&rdquo;
Privacy is, of course, paramount. &ldquo;You have to remember,&rdquo; says Dr. Teo, &ldquo;many of our clients are successful public figures or just very private men. The last thing they want is to be seen waiting outside a clinic, so we made sure they never have to be.&rdquo;
Even the process of entering Brovage feels intentional: subtle signage, hidden parking and concealed waiting ports that ensure clients are never exposed. &ldquo;Nothing like this has been done before,&rdquo; says Dr. Teo. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re breaking the ceiling of what a clinic should be.&rdquo;

Dr. Mendiola is a urologist with decades of experience, trained in Budapest, Hungary, at the European School for Sexual Medicine. &ldquo;That experience opened my eyes,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;I realized that in the Philippines, there wasn&rsquo;t even a proper language for sexual health. No one was having these conversations.&rdquo;
The clinic follows what Dr. Mendiola calls a biopsychosocial model &mdash; one that treats the whole person rather than just the symptom. &ldquo;You&rsquo;d be surprised how many men come in thinking it&rsquo;s a physical problem when it&rsquo;s actually a mix of lifestyle, stress and aging,&rdquo; he says.
Under one roof, Brovage combines sexual medicine, aesthetic urology and advanced wellness &mdash; an intersection rarely seen in the Philippines.
