In a quiet corner of Marikina, where the rhythm of sewing machines hums alongside the scent of fresh coffee, Gouache unveiled its newest collaboration: a capsule line with Anthill Fabrics that feels less like a seasonal launch and more like a love letter to Filipino heritage.
The Gouache x Anthill Capsule Collection merges two identities: the structured grit of waxed canvas, a Gouache signature; and the warm, woven soul of Anthill&rsquo;s locally sourced Hablon and Kantarines fabrics. It&rsquo;s a collection built for the everyday creative&mdash;a sling bag for your errands day, a cap that can weather a storm or rock a studio shoot, or an apron that tells a story as you make your own.

Rooted in culture and designed for everyday creativity, the Gouache x Anthill collection showcases traditional fabrics in contemporary forms. The result: functional, design-forward wearables that carry with them the stories of weaving communities across the Philippines, especially from Cebu. These handwoven textiles that are rich with color and generational craft are paired with Gouache&rsquo;s signature waxed canvas, giving each item a tactile sense of depth and durability.

&ldquo;This collaboration felt like something that was always meant to happen,&rdquo; shares Ann Enriquez-Poco, Gouache co-founder. &ldquo;The fabrics brought rhythm and warmth to each piece.&rdquo;

Each piece in the collection is handcrafted in Gouache&rsquo;s Marikina workshop, where local artisans cut, layer, and assemble materials with meticulous care. Produced in small batches to minimize waste and preserve quality, the line reflects the brand&rsquo;s sustainability ethos while directly supporting local communities&mdash;many of them women-led through its partnership with Anthill.
The process is slow, intentional, and refreshingly human. This came to life when L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines received customized aprons as a gift from the founders, crafted right before our eyes. Ann explains that matching handwoven fabrics to the form and function of each product required rounds of trial, error, and thoughtful collaboration: &ldquo;There&rsquo;s a lot of handwork involved&hellip; plenty of back-and-forth with Anthill to make sure everything aligns.&rdquo;

More than a product launch, it&rsquo;s a creative philosophy that invites you to move with purpose and wear your roots. &ldquo;We know we&rsquo;re designing for someone who wants to explore and embrace imperfections and view it as a character rather than a flaw,&rdquo; co-founder Louie Poco shared with L&rsquo;Officiel. &ldquo;If you look at the bags, there are creases and imperfections on waxed canvas, and that&rsquo;s exactly who we are as well.&rdquo;
