Givenchy Refreshes Its Antigona Bag With Masculine Lines
Creative Director Matthew Williams was inspired by vintage car seats and his inherent love for industrial hardware.
For Fall/Winter 2021, Givenchy has expanded the Antigona family with the Antigona-U Camera and the Crossbody bags, designed especially for men.
Crafted in matte black leather, these new styles channel a rock-inspired attitude thanks to a padded, grooved finish inspired by vintage car seats. This symmetrical effect was achieved through an intricate process of high-frequency wave techniques and electro-welding.
To finish these pieces, Creative Director Matthew Williams pushed his love of industrial hardware ever further, exploring galvanization methods to create a two-tone metallic ‘U’ element and dark ruthenium zips. Functional as they are stylish, the Antigona U Camera and Crossbody bags are ideal companions for any setting and occasion.
Style these with louche suiting — go for slightly oversized, tailored separates to complement the Antigona’s structured silhouette. On another end of the spectrum, its rigid lines lend interesting contrast to sporty, casual wear.
The Antigona’s ultra-sleek noir also offsets other neutrals or even brighter hues perfectly. We imagine the season’s trending prints and vivid colors punctuated by the bag’s sleek sable, subduing their impact without muting them completely.
