BTS’ j-hope Radiates Positivity on L’Officiel Philippines’ January 2022 Cover
His infectious enthusiasm is a mirror of his own fascinating personal style.
What’s in a name? For BTS’ energetic main dancer j-hope, his moniker is an ode not just to hope itself, but to the strength it’s rooted in. “I got into music through dancing, and I still need help when it comes to music…I realized that the musical direction I’d chosen was tough, and I lost confidence. I’m anxious to move beyond this difficulty, but it’s been slow going, and this makes me feel ashamed. I couldn’t help but ask, ‘Is this my limit?’ But I’m in the process of gradually overcoming this challenge.”
j-hope’s infectious positivity is mirrored by his own vibrant, experimental personal style. A click over to his Instagram account reveals a penchant for carefully flat-laid outfits in a fascinating mix of prints, finishes, and textures: find a puffer scarf and a giant faux-fur shoulder bag in one look, then distressed denim, a fuzzy pageboy cap, and square-toed sneakers in another. His singularly cool flamboyance isn’t lost on his cover story photoshoot either — among the looks he wore, one that stands out is the pearl-encrusted black suit from Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection.
This season signals the return of partywear on the radar. High-shine lamé, satin, and silk tailoring stole the spotlight at Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino, and Etro, among others, while Dior and Loewe gave sleepwear staples like nightgowns and pajamas a glamorous spin.
