It&rsquo;s that time again. The chairs get sexier, the lighting gets moodier, and your Instagram feed starts looking like an architectural fever dream. Yes, Milano Design Week is back. From April 20 to 26, the Italian capital of cool transforms into a full-blown design playground. Think less &ldquo;trade fair,&rdquo; more &ldquo;city-wide takeover.&rdquo; Designers, architects, editors, and the fashion crowd all descend on Milan for a week that&rsquo;s equal parts inspiration, chaos, and very good aperitivo.

Back in 1961, Salone del Mobile launched as a straightforward trade fair where Italian furniture makers showing off to the world. Clean, simple, business. Then things got interesting. By the &rsquo;80s, designers started breaking out of the fairgrounds, staging guerrilla-style exhibitions across the city including in apartments, courtyards, even abandoned factories. That off-grid energy became Fuorisalone, and today, it&rsquo;s just as essential as the main event. Now? You get both. The polished, industry-heavy fair and a sprawling, city-wide design festival that turns neighbourhoods like Brera, Tortona, and Isola into open-air galleries. The scale is major. We&rsquo;re talking over 300,000 visitors. Historic buildings swing open. Fashion houses moonlight as furniture designers. Students show next to superstars. The whole city becomes a living, breathing design lab. It&rsquo;s thrilling but also a lot. So here&rsquo;s where to start.
